Blogging Helps

I took a minute to reconnect with my blog acquaintances, and it looks I am not the only one going through winter AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dark/ice/school delays/anxiety/terrible scale numbers/work/committments = yuck.

But I see I'm not the only one, so obscurely, and probably uncharitably, I feel a little bit better.

This morning my geste in the face of chaos was Eziekiel toast with butter and 2 eggs. I made tea. I haven't consumed any diet soda yet, though I feel it coming on. Last workout was Jazzed Pilates on Monday with my daughter (yay!)

I need to relax and imagine that I have time, and maybe it will magically become true :) And I need to take one minute to remember the following:

my husband
my kids
safe warm house
gainful employment
good health
my sweet father even if he is 2,000 miles away
car that works
nice bloggers who help me even when they don't realize it
friends near and far
naturally curly hair
new progressive lenses that don't make me all that sick

Today's task is to enjoy things as much as I can, relax, and find something for dinner that is warm and pleasing and not too blatantly carbolicious. Suggestions welcome :)

  1. Bear mode has been particularly bad this year. Last week I went to bed one night at 9, woke up at 8 and still took a 2 hour nap.

  2. Haha! I think my favorite thing on your list was "naturally curly hair"! I love being able to wash and go (with a minimal amount of hairdrying/fuss).

This winter has been a long, dreary one for me too. Come on spring! Get here!! :)

  5. Oh, I hear ya. I'm going through the Winter What the...?!?!?'s too. I like your thankful list! Those are all awesome things. :-)

When I read your "warm and pleasing and not blatantly carbolicious," I thought of stew with lots of non-starchy veggies. Yum.

  6. You have much to be grateful for...and aren't you fortunate to recognize it?

  7. You're blessed... hhmm...I made chicken and dumplings last night with bisquick dumplings, so you probably don't want that idea, huh? LOL

WW gave this great recipe years ago for a stew with ground turkey, canned kidney beans, diced zucchini, squash and onions seasoned with one packet taco seasoning. So yummy and very low in cals/fat. Low carbs too, I think.

  8. I know. My last comment was lame. I came back to say that I finally went to a Zumba class after reading several times about you doing it. I was terrible at it but moved things that haven't moved in a while and had a blast.

    I like your gratitude list.

  9. The winter blahs have been particularly bad this year, so I can certainly empathize. I like your list of positives. Perhaps if I'd take the time to do that, I'd gain a little perspective, and a little oomph!

  10. I have really had to fight hibernation this year! I have been meeting my friend at the gym every morning at 6:00 a.m.. I have lost six pounds and I am feeling great! Over 50 to go , but at least I am headed in the right direction!
    Love your gratitude list!
    Have a pretty day!

  11. Just thought I'd share...

I can finally fit into the 14s you gave me, and I've passed my too big clothes on to a friend who can use them.

Paying it forward...you did it and I'm doing the same. Thanks again for blessing me with those.
