My 14s from the summer are getting loose

So I bought these Riders from Walmart, a decidedly snug 12:

My BMI is 26.1 as of this morning. My fasting blood sugar was 111. I do feel like I am getting maybe a little burly around the shoulders :) But you know, I don't think I look like I "earned" pre-diabetes because I'm such an unconscionable couch potato.

  1. I think the jeans look great!! Is that a good fasting blood sugar? I have no idea what's good and high, etc.

  2. See, I think you look fabulous. And the pre-diabetes thing could be genetic more than anything else. I was diagnosed early this year as pre-diabetic and dodged that bullet with diet and exercise. Watch your carbs, get off the couch, and see if that makes a difference. Bet it will.

  3. I, too, have been warned that I'm leaning toward pre-diabetes. You look terrific!! Keep up the work you're doing. It surely will, in fact, make the difference you're looking for.

  7. I think you look great Larkspur! And for the record, that is not the body of someone who "earned" pre-diabetes. :-)

  8. You made a great point in the previous post about how much genetics play a part in diabetes. And you look awesome--in great shape!

  10. Oh my, you look fantastic in those size 12s - and well done for getting into them!

Weight-training is also good for controlling diabetes as well - apparently muscle uses insulin much more efficiently or something (I can't remember the proper scientific stuff, sorry).

But, sheesh, how hot do you look in dem jeans, huh?

  11. Thanks for the encouragement, my dears! Re the blood sugar, Melissa, it is NOT good, sadly. It's still prediabetic. And that's after losing 20 pounds and working out regularly including with weights (great tip, FF Me!) It's not always that high-- don't know if I was brewing a cold or maybe too free a hand with the chocolate-- blood sugar is frustrating because it's not always under your control. Steve has been tremendously inspiring for me as his last was 85, which is not just normal but good. Of course my body fat percentage is 31% while his is something like 19, so there's some room for improvement. My shoulders should be getting even more burly :)
